Why visit Scandinavia?

Northern Europe and particularly Denmark is an amazing travel destination. Stockholm – Sweden’s capital, the vibrant city of Stockholm sits on a series of 14 islands. A photographer’s dream, its grand waterfront buildings contrast with a beautifully preserved old town, miles of open parkland and some impressive examples of contemporary architecture. But it’s not all about the views. Stockholm boasts some top-class museums – from the Academy of Fine Arts to the people-pleasing Abba Museum – plus plenty of palaces, where you can marvel at the lavish lifestyles of the royals.

The Northern Lights – Some 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle, Troms?, Norway offers some of the best views of the Northern Lights in all of Scandinavia. There’s no better time to see them than at the end of January, when the former fur trapping center hosts its annual music festival. What to do when your eyes aren’t trained skyward? Embark on an expedition to spot orcas and humpbacks near Whale Island. Nature lovers will find stiff competition in the remote wilderness of Swedish Lapland, where you can see the aurora borealis on horseback after an afternoon of dog sledding or a woodland jaunt aboard a reindeer-driven sleigh. You’ll be hard pressed to find more atmospheric accommodations than the Icehotel, which is rebuilt each year using frozen blocks from the Torne River. More details on lb-voyages.fr

Bergen and the fjords, Norway – Bergen looks like it was built for a photoshoot, but its beauty pales in comparison to the epic fjords nearby. You might find that the staggering views are rewarding enough (imagine soaring mountains reflected in mirror-smooth water), but otherwise there’s a whole host of adrenaline-pumping activities to keep you occupied. Anyone for paragliding?

A nice way to explore Stockholm over a 50 minutes trip is the Royal Canal Tour. In this tour, you will travel by a 100 passenger canal boat, you will also have the opportunity to listen to the audioguide in 11 different languages. After leaving the city center on, you will get a chance to see the beautiful and famous buildings by sailing along the Djurgarden Canal.

Tivoli Gardens – This amusement park is wonderful for both young and old. It was founded in 1843 and has come to gain much popularity. Walt Disney took much of his inspiration from these gardens to create Disneyland and the park is now referred to as the “Disneyland of Scandinavia”. The park offers rides, games, musicals, ballet, and major concerts. It is open winter through summer making this an excellent Scandinavian attraction. Extra info regarding http://www.lbvoyages.fr

Open since 1969, the park was originally named “The Lion Park” because these animals were the only ones in the Zoo. In 1970, Asian elephants were brought here, and today you can see more than 700 different animals that represent about 70 species. This zoo is one of the ten attractions that has been awarded 5 stars and has a total 325,000 visitors per year.
