Dubai is know for it’s fantastic architecture , with many spectacular building being built every year but also known for the vibrant nightlife and luxury shopping. What can you see in Dubai ?
This strip of sandy white bliss is the number one beach destination for Dubai visitors. Hotels are strung out all along its length, with this being one of the most popular places to stay for tourists. The beach has excellent facilities, with plenty of sun loungers, restaurants, and water sports operators offering jet skiing. While in the area, brush off the sand for an hour and visit the Majlis Ghorfat Um Al-Sheef, just a short hop from the beach. Built in 1955, this was the summer residence of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed al-Maktoum. The residence, made out of gypsum and coral-block, has been restored and maintains much of the original beautiful decor, giving you a better understanding of the opulent lifestyle of Dubai’s rulers. The Majlis Gardens feature a reproduction of an impressive Arab irrigation system and many shady date palms.
Dubai has the tallest building in the world but that’s not all, it has the tallest hotel in the world too! Dubai is home to the world’s tallest hotel, the Burj Al-Arab. The Dubai Fountain, located at the base of the iconic Burj Khalifa and just outside the doors of the famous The Dubai Mall, features the world’s largest choreographed fountain system. This popular dancing water show jets water streams as high as 150 metres in the air. Each colourful, illuminated jet sways in time to various musical numbers from around the world, producing what has become the one of the most popular shows in Dubai. Two showings occur in the afternoon (1pm and 1:30pm), except on Fridays (1:30pm to 2pm) and evening displays begin at sundown and take place every 30 minutes until the final song plays at 11pm.
Another huge reason to visit Dubai is the World EXPO 2020. That will be a sight to behold! Among those who have confirmed they’re involved are 190 different countries, as well as several major businesses and educational institutions. Major attendees include the UK, which plans to showcase British “innovation, creativity and leadership” at its enormous pavillion, which is shaped like a shell and features a poem on its stunning 20-metre high facade. The US is expected to spend $60 million (around Dhs220m) on its space, which will display modern graphics and feature a hyperloop ride. Moving over to the GCC, Saudi Arabia has revealed a pavillion the size of two football pitches. Of course, right at the heart of Expo 2020 will be the UAE pavillion – with its spectacular design inspired by a falcon in flight. It will have exhibition areas, an auditorium, restaurants and VIP lounges.
This are only a few of Dubai’s attractions and any trip planning must start with squiring an UAE visa.
